Application	Chain drive used on a trench tiling machine
Failure mode	Cracking of outer plate.
Diagnosis	Due to high impulsive loading, a crack started at the edge of the plate hole and crack propagation occurred, resulting in a "classic" fatigue failure.
Solution	Eliminate high impulsive loading or select larger pitch chain.
